What you’re listening to is an improv intro with the band members who were in costume for Halloween. Kurt was Barney (the purple/green dinosaur), he walked out on stage with a bottle of Jack Daniel’s in his hand, that he chugged through the mask’s mouth. Pat was Slash from Guns N’ Roses. Dave was a mummy. and Krist was a white-faced “reverse Ted Danson” with “P.C.” on his forehead for “Politically Correct.”

“Endless, Nameless” (Live at the Paramount, Halloween/1991.)

“Drain You” - [Rough mix]

“Drain You took some time, the early passes sounded scratchy and grating, and the way he was playing didn’t sound very good. Every time Kurt did a vocal pass he would run to the side of the room at that part of the song and pick something up—squeaky ducks, percussion things or an aerosol. It became an abstract part for 17 bars. We just left them all in on the mix.” - Butch Vig.
